Cons: No parking (only valet parking witch you have to pay $* each car), they put a $*0 hold on credit card on each room for accidental insurance, had to pay for internet access on each room, was given the wrong room twice. Rooms were in completely different floors, front desk was not helpful at all, elevator took forever, finally after getting the right room, bathroom was dirty (hair and dust all over the room), went to call the front desk and phone was broke, had to pay $* for a roll away bed, and pool was not what I expected… Pros: Location…

We booked thru web and by chance we got the hotel I was looking at for $* less than booking with the hotel. I had read several of the reviews and wasn't sure what it was going to be like. Very pleasantly surprised. the room was very nice and clean. The staff was very informative and helpful in every manner. The resturant at the Hotel was very reasonable with prices. The food was great. The pool & sauna was a added bonus. Also kept very clean. Next time my Husband and I travel to Chicago again we will make sure to stay at the Essex Inn. It is also in a great location for all the attractions. thanks for the great stay.

The hotel was clean and in a great location. THe staff was very helpful when my son left a suit in a cab. They communicated with my son and the taxi and got it delivered back to him. That was wonderful!

Room was very small and very loud. We were next to the elevator and it was very noisy. Also lot's of noise from the hallway. We requested a king size bed and got two doubles. Our room was very hot and we could not get it to cool down. Engineering took a long time to work on it and we had to get ready for a formal affair that we were attending, while sweating. When we returned for the evening, it was a little cooler, but not much better. Hotel staff seemed to care less. They would let you complain... but didn't care. I will never stay at the Essex in again. Very poor value for the money paid.

We just returned from a visit to Chicago. We loved the Essex. The staff were wonderful and extremely helpful. The room was comfortable and clean and the location couldn't have been better. We were able to explore Grant Park and walk down Michigan Ave to get to all the sights we wanted to see. We loved Chicago and hope to return and would stay at the Essex again in a heartbeat.
